TermDefinition
Application Forms Forms or records completed when applying for a job.
Budget An itemized list of income and expected expenditures for a period of time.
Cover letter Letter written with the purpose of obtaining an interview.
Deductions Things subtracted or taken out.
Externships Learning opportunities offered by educational institutions to give students short, practical experiences in their field of study.
Fixed expenses Those items in a budget that are set and usually do not change.
Gross income Amount of pay earned before deductions are taken out.
Income Total amount of money received in a given period; salary is usually the main source.
Internships On-the-job training that provides students with an opportunity to gain experience in their field of study.
Job interview A face-to-face meeting or conversation between an employer and an applicant for a job.
Letter of introduction Letter written with the purpose of obtaining an interview.
Net income Amount of pay received for hours worked after all deductions have been taken out; take-home pay.
Resume A summary of a person's work history and experience, submitted when applying for a job.
Variable expenses In a budget, expenses that can change or be adjusted.
