| diplomacy | the art of interacting with foreign governments. -A presidents visits to foreign countries helps build international friendship |
| treaties | written agreements with other countries. -Many officials work to reach these agreements, including senators |
| reprieve | Postpones the carrying out of a persons sentence |
| pardon | forgives a person for his or her crime and eliminates (gets rid of) their punishment |
| secretary | the title of most cabinet members is secretary |
| attorney general | the head of the department of justice is known at the attorney general |
| ambassadors | highest ranking U.S. representatives in foreign countries. The official place where ambassadors live in a foreign country is the embassy |
| consulate | A U.S. counsel's office is a consulate. It is a place where U.S. commercial interests are addressed in foreign countries |
| passports | Documents needed to travel to other countries issued by the country of the persons citizenship |
