Relative atomic mass The weighted means mass of an atom in comparison to 1/12 of the mass of carbon-12
Relative isotopic mass The weighted mass of an isotope in comarison to 1/12 of the mass of carbon-12
Relative molecular mass The mass of a molecule in comparison to 1/12 of carbon-12 and is equal to the sum of the relative atomic masses of each atom that make up the molecule.
Relative formula mass The average mass of one formula nit in comparison to 1/12 of an atom of carbon-12 or the sum of the relative atomic masses of each ion ni the formula unit.
Empirical formula The ratio of atoms in the smallest whole number ratio
Molecular formula Actual ratio of atoms
Ionic equations Equations that take part in a solution where only the reacting particles are shown
Acids Proton donors that release hydrogen ions in water
Bases Proton acceptors that gains hydrogen ions in water
Alkali A base that is soluble in water
Which reaction happens more in a strong acid? Forward, so it will almost entirely dissociate and release most of its hydrogen ions
Which reaction happens more in a strong base? Forward, so it will release many OH ions
