| domestic policy | A government's plan and actions that affect people and events inside a country |
| foreign policy | A government's strategy for dealing with other countries |
| political party | A group of people who share similar ideas about how the government should work. |
| manufacture | To make by machine in a large quantity |
| neutral | Not taking any side in an argument or contest |
| commerce | The buying and selling of goods or services ( in other words ) trade or business. |
| alien | Someone who lives in a country who is not a citizen of that country. |
| immigrant | A person who moves permanently to another country from his or her native land |
| sedition | actions or speech intended or serving to create rebellion against a government. |
| impressment | The practice of forcing people to serve ( be part of ) the military Britain would force American sailors to serve in the British Navy to help meet the demand for sailors. |
| deport | To make a person leave a country. |
| embargo | a government order that restricts trade or the shipment of goods (usually to another country.) |
| backfire | to have results that are the opposite of what are wanted |
| plummet | to fall down very sharply and quickly. |
| pineh | an instance or condition of great need or emergency. |
