Phonological Process

| Weak syllable deletion | omission of a weak syllable either before or after a stressed syllable; age 4 |
| Deaffrication | subbing a fricative for an affricate |
| final consonant deletion | deleting final consonant (coda) to create a CV pattern and an open syllable ending; age 4 |
| Gliding | substituting the glides /w/ or /j/ for the liquids /l/ and /r/; 5 or older |
| Reduplication | repetition of a syllable; age 3 |
| Vocalization | substituting a vowel for postvocalic /r/ or /l/, most commonly for /ʊ/, /ɔ/, or /o/ |
| Cluster reduction | deletion of a consonant from a consonant cluster; age 4-5 |
| labial assimilation | nonlabial phoneme is produced with a labial place of articulation |
| stopping | substituting a stop for a fricative or affricate; age 4-5 |
| alveolar assimilation | nonalveolar phoneme is produced with an alveolar place of articulation |
| Fronting | substituting velar and palatal consonants with an alveolar place of articulation; age 3 |
| velar assimilation | nonvelar phoneme is produced with a velar place of articulation |
| prevocalic voicing | voicing of a normally unvoiced consonant; occurs when consonant precedes nucleus of syllable |
| devoicing | syllable-final voiced phoneme is devoiced |
