TermDefinition
Area Area is the total 2D space within a shape's boundary, measured in square units
Center the exact middle point of a shape or geometric figure, acting as a point of reference for its symmetry
Circle A circle is a 2D geometric shape defined as the set of all points in a plane that are at a fixed distance.
Circumference the total distance around the edge of a circle or any curved geometric shape
composite figure a geometric shape formed by combining two or more basic shapes
cone a solid or hollow object which tapers from a circular or roughly circular base to a point.
cylinder a 3D geometric shape with two identical circular bases connected by a curved surface
diameter the straight-line distance across it passing through the center, connecting two points on the circumference.
face a flat surface on a 3D geometric solid, such as the sides of a cube or pyramid
hemisphere A hemisphere is exactly half of a sphere
lateral face any side of a three-dimensional figure (prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone) that is not considered a base
pi the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter
prism two parallel, identical bases and parallelogram side faces, or an optical component that refracts light into a spectrum
pyramid 3D solid with a polygonal base and triangular faces that meet at a single top point
radius straight-line distance from the center of a circle or sphere
regular pyramid 3D geometric shape with a regular polygon forming identical isosceles triangle lateral faces.
semicircle a 2D shape representing exactly half of a circle, formed by cutting a circle along its diameter
slant height diagonal distance from the tip of a cone or pyramid to the edge of its base,
sphere a round solid figure, or its surface, with every point on its surface from its center.
surface area the total area of all outer faces of a 3D object, measured in square units
volume 3D space occupied by matter, calculated using cubic units like or liters

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
