equivalent equal in value or size
unit rate a comparison of two measurements with a denominator of one
absolute value distance a number is from zero on a number line
percent a quantity out of 100
integers a set of whole numbers and their opposites
rational numbers numbers that can be written as repeating decimals, terminating decimals, and fractions
simplify reducing the fraction to the simplest form
variable a letter representing an unknown value
like terms terms whose variable and exponents are the same
coefficient the number in front of a variable
