| Season – | Season – One of the four parts of the year (spring, summer, fall, winter) caused by Earth’s tilt and movement around the Sun. |
| Hemisphere – | Half of the Earth. The Earth has the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. |
| Axis Tilt – | The slant of Earth on its axis. Earth is tilted about 23.5°, which causes the seasons. |
| Distance – | The amount of space between two objects, such as the Earth and the Sun. |
| Translation – | The movement of Earth as it travels around the Sun. This is also called revolution. |
| Rotation – | The spinning of Earth on its axis. One full rotation takes 24 hours and causes day and night. |
| Spring Equinox – | The first day of spring when day and night are almost equal in length. |
| Fall Equinox – | The first day of fall when day and night are almost equal in length. |
| Winter Solstice – | The first day of winter and the shortest day of the year. |
| Summer Solstice – | The first day of summer and the longest day of the year. |
