Che tempo fa? – What’s the weather like? (Literally: "What weather does it make?")
Com'è il tempo? – How is the weather?
Che tempo farà domani? – What will the weather be like tomorrow?
Quali sono le previsioni? – What is the forecast?
Use Fare () for sensations: to make
Fa caldo. – It’s hot.
Fa freddo. – It’s cold.
Fa fresco. – It’s cool/chilly
Fa bel tempo. – It’s nice weather.
Fa brutto tempo. – It’s bad weather
Use Essere () with adjectives: to be
È soleggiato. – It’s sunny.
È nuvoloso. – It’s cloudy.
È umido. – It’s humid.
È coperto. – It’s overcast (covered).
Use C'è / Ci sono - for specific elements: there is / there are)
C'è il sole. – It’s sunny (There is the sun).
C'è vento. – It’s windy.
C'è la nebbia. – It’s foggy.
Ci sono le nuvole. – It’s cloudy (There are clouds).
Piove. – It’s raining.
Sta piovendo for It is currently raining
Nevica. – It’s snowing.
Grandina. – It’s hailing.
Pioviggina. – It’s drizzling.
Tuona – It’s thundering
Lampeggia. There’s lightning.
L'afa / È afoso: That sticky, oppressive, humid heat common in Italian summers.
Cielo terso: A perfectly clear, crisp blue sky.
Una giornata uggiosa: A gloomy, grey, depressing day (usually involving light rain).
Un'aria frizzante: Crisp, refreshing air (usually on a sunny autumn morning).
Piove a catinelle! – It’s raining buckets! (The Italian "cats and dogs").
Fa un freddo cane! – It’s "dog cold" (bitterly cold).
Si muore di caldo. – One dies of heat (It’s scorching).
Non ci sono più le mezze stagioni. – "There are no mid-seasons anymore." (A classic Italian complaint when it goes straight from winter to summer).
Marzo pazzo. – "Crazy March." (Used because March weather in Italy changes every five minutes).
È tiepido (It's lukewarm)
