| coal | a dark rock that can be burned and used for energy |
| electrical energy | a form of energy that powers light bulbs |
| energy | the ability to do work, make things move (an action) |
| engineer | a person who uses science to come up with solutions to problems. |
| heat / thermal energy | energy in the form of heat, usually comes from fire |
| pollution | something harmful to the environment |
| renewable resource | a source of energy that exists in a limitless amount, such as sun, wind and moving water. |
| solar energy | energy from the sun; a renewable resource. |
| water energy | energy of moving water, a renewable resource |
| wind energy | energy of moving air, a renewable resource |
| wind turbine | a machine that can turn the movement of air into electricity |
| water turbine | a machine that can turn the movement of water into electricity |
| solar panel | a machine that can turn sunlight into electricity |
