Ecology definitions

QuestionAnswer
Ecology is the study of the interactions between living things (organisms) and between living things and their environment.
ecosystem is a group of clearly distinguished organisms that interact with their environment as a unit.
population is all the members of the same species living in an area. e.g. a population of rabbits, a population of foxes etc.
Biodiversity is the variety of species that exists in a specific area.
Conservation is the wise management (or preservation or protection) of the environment in order to maintain biodiversity and prevent extinctions.
carrying capacity The carrying capacity of an ecosystem is the maximum population size that can be supported by the available resources in the ecosystem.
Predation s the killing and eating of an organism from another species. The predator is the organism that kills and eats. The prey is the organism that is killed and eaten
