| competition | when two or more populations use the same resource such a as the same food |
| consumer population (heterotrophs) | a poplulation that eats organisims from anouther population |
| Ecologist | a scientist who studies the interaction with each other and their envierment |
| ecosystem | all the living thing and nonliving things interacting in a particular area |
| 'energy | the ability to make things move or change |
| energy storage molecule (glucose) | a molecule that organisms can use to release the energy they need to survive |
| food web | a model that shows what eats what in an ecosystem |
| indirect effect | the result of one cause leading to an effect that causes one or more other effects |
| organisims | living things, such as plants, animals, and bactiria |
| population | a group of the same type of organisim living in the same area |
| reproduction | the process of creating offspring |
| resource population | a population that is eaten by organisims from anouther population |
| stability | when something stays mostly the same over time |
| producer population (autorophs) | a population that is able to make their own food through photosynthesis |
| decomposer | an organisim that is able to break down other organismis waste |
| parasitism | interaction in which one organism benefits and the other is harmed |
| mutualism | interaction between 2 organisims where they both benefit |
| commensalism | interaction in which one organisim benefits, and the other is not impacted |
| abiotic | not living parts of the environment |
| biotic | living parts of the environment |
