Cultural Relativism when people judge a culture by getting to know and understand it
Ethnocentrism when people judge culture by their own culture and don't try to understand the other
Relocation Diffusion spreads by people moving and carrying it. (Spanish --> Americas)
Contagious Diffusion Spreads to neighbors or people close by. (Social media tends)
Hierarchical Diffusion spreads from the top down, big to small. (fashion trends from cities)
Stimulus Diffusion Idea adapted byt not fully copied. (McDonald's menu in Japan)
Expansion Diffusion Trait that spreads outward from origin.
Relocation physical movement of people
Universalizing Religions a religion that actively seeks converts or people to join the religion (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism)
Ethnic Religions a religion that is tied to a people/place and doesn't seek new people (Hinduism, Judaism, Shinto)
Language Family related languages through ancestral languages (Indo-European)
Lingua Franca language made so people who don't speak the same language can communicate
Creole the blending of diverse cultures to create new cultural forms
Language Extinction globalization --> dominant languages replace local ones.
Acculturation adopting traits but keeping original identity
Assimilation fully absorbing into a dominant culture, normally without consent
Syncretism blend of two cultures
