| Taiga | Land that is very cold in the winter and and that is covered mostly with conifers. |
| Polar | Near Earth's north pole or south pole |
| Grassland | An area of land that is covered mostly with grasses that generally receives less rain than a forest. |
| Wetland | An area of land covered by a shallow layer of water for most of the year. |
| Environment | All the living and non living things that surround and affect an organism |
| Ecosystem | A community of organisms. |
| Extinction | The death of all the members of a species. |
| Pollution | A waster products that harm living things and damages an ecosystem. |
| Conservation | The process of preserving/ protect an ecosystem or resources. |
| Habitat | The place where an organism lives. |
| Adaptation | A characteristic that helps a a living thing survive. |
| Nocturnal | When an organism is active at night. |
| Instinct | Behaviors that animals know how to do without being taught. |
| Camouflage | An adaptation that helps an living thing hide in its environment. |
| Mimicry | A black and yellow hoverfly that does not have a stinger looks like a wasp and so other animals will think twice before eating it. |
