homeostasis The condition in which an organism's internal environment is kept stable even when it's external environment changes
adaptation The inherited behavior of physical characteristics that helps the organisms survive and reproduce in their enviornment
vertebrate Animal with spine
invertebrate animal without spine
tissue A group of similar cells grouped to preform a function
organ A body structure that is composed of different tissues that work together
radial symetry A body plan In which any number of imaginary lines that all pass through the central point divide the animal into mirror images
bilateral symmetry A body plan in which a single imaginary line divides the body into to mirror peices
cnidarian A radially symmetrical invertebrate that uses stinging cells to capture food an defend itself
mollusk An organism with a soft unsegmented body
arthorpod An invertebrate that has an external skeleton, a segmented body and a jointed appendages
exoskeloton An external skeleton; a tough Outer covering for the animal that is waterproof
endoskeloton An internal skeleton; structural support for the animal
echinoderm A radially symmetrical marine invertebrate that has an internal skeleton
chordate An animal that has a notochord, and throat pouches in some point of it's life
vertebrae The bones that make up the backbone of an organism
endotherm An organism who's body temp is determined by the organisms internal heat
notochord A flexible rod that is below a chordates nerve cord
ectotherm An organism who's body temp is determined by the environmental temp
fish An organism who's body temp is determined by the environmental temp and lives in the water and has fins
reptile An organism who's body temp is determined by the environmental temp and has scalely skin
bird An organism who's body temp is determined by the organisms internal heat and has wings
ammphibian An organism who's body temp is determined by the environmental temp and that lives early life in the water
cartilage Connective tissue that is more flexible than bone and keeps them from rubbing against each other
mammanary gland An organ the females have in order to produce milk for their young
plecetal mammal A mammal the grows in it's mothers body until it can function itself
placenta An organ in most pregnant mammals including humans that links the mother and the embrio togeather
marsupial A mammal whoose young are born early in the stage of development and develop in a pouh on the mothers body
monotreme A mammal that lays eggs
