What is a sacrament? A visible and effective sign instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church through which we share in God's grace.
What is God's grace? Helps baptized people to grow in faith, hope and love, and helps to live fully the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and helps to grow in goodness and Christian morality.
What is Sanctifying grace? God's very life, given with the reception of the Sacraments.
How many Sacraments are there? Seven
What are the Sacraments of Christian initiation? Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist
What are the Sacraments of Healing? Penance and the Anointing of the Sick
What are the Sacraments at the Service of Communion and the Mission of the Faithful? Holy Orders and Matrimony
How do the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist lay the foundation for living a Christian Life? In Baptism, Christians are born anew into Christ Jesus, Strengthened with his Holy Spirit with Confirmation, and Nourished with the divine food of eternal life with the Holy Eucharist.
What is the Sacrament of Baptism? The door to all the other Sacraments, which frees a person from Original Sin, makes the person reborn as a child of God and becomes a member of Christ's Body, the Church, and is given the promise of Eternal Life.
How does the Church carry out the Sacrament of Baptism? The sacred Minister, the Bishop, Priest, or Deacon, immerses the candidate in water three times or pours water over the head three times. While also saying "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit"
Can anyone, even a non-baptized person, baptize a person? Yes, in case of emergency, anyone with the intention of the Church, baptizes the same way.
Does the Sacrament of Baptism impart and indelible mark on the soul? Baptism seals the new Christian with the indelible spiritual mark of belonging to Christ.
What does indelible spiritual mark mean? Character
Can sin erase the indelible mark that was sealed during Baptism? No
Can Baptism ever be repeated? No because of the indelible spiritual mark.
What is the Sacrament of Confirmation? It completes the grace of Baptism, making the person more perfectly bound to the Church and receives a special strength of God, the Holy Spirit.
When does a person becomes a true witness to Christ and can spread and defend the faith by word and deed? Confirmation
Who is to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation? Every Baptized person
What forms a unity with the Sacrament of Baptism and the Eucharist? Confirmation
How does a person prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation? Through prayer, study, and a new commitment to the promises made at Baptism.
What is included with the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation? Living in the state of grace, living without serious sin
Is the Sacrament of Penance a part of the preparation for Confirmation? Yes
Who accompanies the candidate during preparation and the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation? A sponsor, sometimes a godparent at Baptism
Who is the original minister of the Sacrament of Confirmation? The Bishop, or sometimes a priest delegated by the Bishop
What is the first step during the conferral of Confirmation? Candidates are presented to the Bishop

What do the candidates renew at Confirmation? Baptismal promises

What is Sacred Chrism? A mixture of olive oil and balsam consecrated by the Bishop at the Chrism Mass.
When is the Chrism Mass typically celebrated? Holy Thursday morning
What is the essential rite of Confirmation? The Bishop anoints the forehead of the baptized candidate with Sacred Chrism and says, "(N), be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit." Confirmed says "Amen" Then the Bishop says, "Peace be with you." Confirmed says, "And with your spirit."
What is the special strength of God the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is received with the celebration of every Sacrament.
What effects does the Holy Spirit have upon the person being confirmed? Deepens the effects of Baptism, especially Grace. More profoundly a child of God, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are more fully given, and the union with the Church is more strongly realized.
When does a person have a new strength to witness to Christ and his Church and is never ashamed of the Cross? After Confirmation and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
What are the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord
What are the fruits of the Holy Spirit? Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Modesty, Self-Control, and Chastity
Does the Sacrament of Confirmation impart an indelible mark on the soul? Yes
What is the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist? The divine event, the Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Jesus on the Cross that takes place on the altar at every Mass.
What does the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist complete? Christian Initiation
What Sacrament does a person receive a share in the common priesthood of Jesus? Baptism
What Sacrament does a person more completely unite to the common priesthood? Confirmation
When does a person join with other members of the Church celebrating Christ's own Sacrifice? Holy Eucharist
Can Baptism and Confirmation be received more than once? No
How are Baptism and Confirmation renewed? Every Sunday with participation at Mass and the reception of Holy Communion
