language system of human communication--spoken or written--that uses words in an organized way

connotation feelings or ideas associated with a word beyond its literal meaning
grammar set of rules for how to use language
sentence group of words expressing a complete thought, and includes a subject and predicate

multi- (prefix) Definition = many Examples = multiply, multiple, multidimensional, multivitamin
-able/-ible (suffix) Definition = able to Examples = enjoyable, indescribable, edible, variable, audible, quantifiable, justifiable
carpe diem (L) Translation = seize the day
nota bene (L) Translation = note well; pay close attention

divide and conquer (learning metaphor) learn one small portion of a map, e.g. 4-5 countries, and then learn another portion of the map, and so on
