Martin Luther German Friar who believed that salvation comes through faith in Christ , and without stuff like indulgences, faith is a free gift, then he wrote the 95 theses where he rebelled against the catholic church
Protestant thought Protestant comes from the word protest which is what German princes were doing to the catholic church, preach mainly from new testament, life rested on scripture, faith saves, sola scriptura

Germany in the reformation Charles the 5th of the holy Roman empire was at war with protestants and princes of Germany sided with Luther which resulted in the peace of Augsburg where German princes were now free to decide to be catholic or protestant
English reformation Henry the 8th had wives wants divorce, doesn't get one so he makes his own protestant church, Mary tried to make England catholic while Elizabeth tried to make English protestant
Growth of the reformation John Calvin makes Calvinism which believes in predestination Foundations for protestants Huguenots and puritans, Church of scotland was made based off Calvinism
