trophic level the position an organisms accupies in a food chain or web (e.g producer,primary,consumer ,secondary consumer etc)
food chain a linear sequence of organisms where each organism serves as food for the next in the chain
photosynthesis the process by which plants and other producers use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water
predator an animal that hunts and kills other animals for food
prey an animal that is hunted and eaten by a predator
