simple machines simple machines make work easier.
Mass Mass is the amount of matter that makes up an object.
force force is a push or a pull.
friction friction is a force that causes objects in motion to speed up or slow down when two surfaces rub together.
speed speed is a measure of how far an object moves in a certain amount of time.
motion a motion is movement or change in an object's position.
more friction the more friction present, the more an object in motion slows down.
position position is the place where an object is located.
lighter the object the lighter an object, the less force you must apply to get it in motion.
gravity gravity is a force that pulls things toward earth.
the more force the more force applied, the more energy is released.
forces forces make things speed up, slow down or change direction. without a force a still object remains still and a moving object would keep moving.
forces vs. forces forces are constantly battling each other. Unbalanced forces move and balanced forces don't
the more mass the more mass something has, the more force required to move it.
types of forces magnetic force, pushes and pulls, gravity, air resistance, friction
friction friction opposes motion between two touching objects. friction slows things down. circle the picture with the picture with the least amount of friction.
the more force applied the more force applied, the farther the object will go.
gravity gravity pulls everything toward earth. the more mass something has the more gravity acts on it. if you drop a bowling and a beach ball off a building, the bowling ball would hit the ground first because it has more mass.
unbalanced forces unbalanced forces happen when one side has greater force in one direction. this will cause the object to move in the direction the greater force is going.
balanced forces balanced forces are two equal forces acting in opposite direction. because it is balanced the object does not move.
