| term | a variable, constant, or product of a coeffiecient and variable |
| coefficient | the numerical factor in a variable term |
| variable term | a term in an equation or expression that has a coefficient and variable |
| reciprocal | a number that when multiplied by another number equals 1 |
| equivalent | values that are equal but may not look the same |
| least common multiple | smallest value that is a multiple of two or more different numbers |
| greatest common factor | the largest factor that two or more numbers are divisible by |
| unit rate | a rate that compares two quantities to a unit of 1 |
| x- axis | the horizontal axis on a coordinate plane |
| y- axis | the vertical axis on a coordinate plane |
| inverse operation | the mathematical operation that reverses or "undoes" a mathematical operation to result in 0 |
| area | the number of square units to cover a shape |
