100K Canvas An artboard canvas with a pure black background color.
Accessibility In the context of Illustrator, the level at which files cater to those with needs, such as vision-impaired and hearing-impaired.
Alignment The lining up of objects vertically or horizontally to give a sense of order. Regarding text, the lining up of text on an edge, two edges, or center.
Appearance of Black A preferences setting that allows one to control how purely black colors with small CMYK percentages will display.
Application Bar A dynamic bar at the top of the Illustrator window. The bar shows different options depending on the type of object selected on the screen.
Area Type Tool A tool used to add text to a predefined area of space.
Artboard A canvas within an Illustrator file.
Aspect Ratio The proportion of an image's width and height.
Attribution The crediting of another author for a work one is using as a project or part of a project.
Balance Organizing the visual weight in a design for equal distribution through strategic spacing.
Contrast The differences between colors and other settings within a design.
A series of evenly spaced horizontal and vertical lines used to help position and align objects on a canvas.
Isolation Mode A view mode that focuses on a specified object, group, or layer.
Outline Mode A view mode that enables the user to see how shapes were actually built.
Swatch A pre-built color that, when used in multiple places, offers consistent colors in those places.
Workspace The configuration of toolbars and panels on the Illustrator screen. A custom configuration can be saved as a custom workspace.
Spot Color A color that does is not built with a combination of CMYK or RGB colors.
