Biomass Energy Energy made up of biomass
Biofuel Liquid fuels from biomass sources
Biopower Electricity generated by the combustion of biomass
Geothermal Energy The heat of radioactive breakdown
Ground Source Heat Pump A renewable heating system that extracts low-temperature solar energy stored in the ground or water
Hydropower The use of kinetic energy moving water to turn Turbines and generate electricity
Tidal Energy Refers to using the movement of tidal water to generate electricity
Ocean Thermal Energy Conservation Use a temperature difference (of at least 20° Celsius or 36° Fahrenheit) to power a turbine to produce electricity
Passive Solar Heating Sunlight is absorbed into the wall and it heats up slowly during the day.
Active Solar Heating Heat from the sun is collected, stored and used primarily for domestic hot water heating but also can be used for space heating
Flat-Plate Solar Collector A flat metal plate that collects and absorbs solar energy
Photovoltaic Cell When solar energy is converted directly into electricity
Concentrating Solar power A technology that uses mirrors to focus sunlight in order to generate electricity
Wind Turbine A device that converts winds kinetic energy to energy of motion into electrical energy
Wind Farm Wind Turbines built in groups
Electrolysis A process that releases hydrogen
Fuel Cells A device made from air and fuel
