| Metformin | commonly used for type 2 diabetes to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce glucose production by the liver. |
| Glipizide | A sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin. |
| Glyburide | Sulfonylurea, similar to glipizide, that increases insulin production in the pancreas. |
| Glimepiride | A Sulfonylurea used to lower blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin. |
| Insulin glargine (Lantus) | A Long-acting insulin used to control blood sugar levels throughout the day and night. |
| Insulin aspart (NovoLog) | A rapid-acting insulin used to control blood sugar during meals. |
| Sitaglipton (Januvia) | A DDP-4 inhibitor that helps increase insulin release and decrease glucagon levels. |
| Liraglutide (Victoza) | A GLP-1 receptor agonist that helps regulate blood sugar, slows digestion, and can assist with weight loss. |
| Pioglitazone (Actos) | A Thiazolidinedione that makes the body more sensitive to insulin. |
| Canagliflozin (Invokana) | An SGLT2 inhibitor that helps the kidneys remove glucose from the bloodstream vis urine. |
