| Term | Definition |

| Twister | A tornado, a violently rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. |
| Storm Cellar | A room located underground used to hide from storms |
| Ditch | Hole or dip in the ground |
| Gravel | Small loose stones or pebbles from the roads or path |
| Hail | Balls of ice that fall from the sky like rain |
| Dim | not bright, almost dark |
| Roar | To make a very loud, deep sound |
| Clothesline | A long rope or wire stretched between two points (like poles or trees) used to hang wet clothes to dry in the sun. |
| Trembling | Shaking slightly in a way you cannot control, often because you are very scared, cold, or excited. |
| Panting | Breathing very quickly and heavily with the mouth open, usually after running or doing hard exercise. |
| Supper | A meal eaten late in the day; dinner. |
| Bargain | a very good deal. |
