Hero archetype test

willing hero a protagonist who actively accepts the call to adventure, prioritizing the needs of others over their own safety
unwilling hero a character who initially rejects the call to adventure due to fear, doubt, or a desire for a normal life.
Cynical anti-hero replaces noble idealism with trauma, moral ambiguity, and self-preservation
tragic anti hero "for the greater good" hero, die when fixing a mistake they made potentially
group oriented hero a group of heroes that work well together (not an organization though), often cannot succeed without their allies
loner hero prefers to work alone, "i don't want you involved" and "if you want something done right"
catalyst hero hero that influences the main character to change, disrupts ordinary life. typically static character
wise old mentor mentor that acts as a guide early in the narrative to prepare hero for the unknown
reluctant mentor mentor that requires the hero to prove their resolve before teaching them, jaded with flaws (e.g. haymitch)
internal mentor the hero's higher self, or moral compass leading them
the personified messenger (herald) stranger, loved one, or wise figure that delivers message to the hero
what does a herald do essentially a catalyst if a catalyst was just a noun
different herald types personified, object, natural circumstance, villain or emissary
adversarial guardian a threshold guardian that is a minor villain, attempts to stop hero through direct conflict
the benevolent tester threshold guardian that creates a test for the hero, but not to harm them. often mentor
the supernatural beast threshold guardian that is ancient mythological creature, e.g. sphinx or minotaur
internal/psychological barrier hero's own self-doubt or mental problems or whatever
romantic interest shapeshifter making the hero question their loyalty
deceptive ally character that pledges alleigance to the hero but could betray at any moment, self-serving, shapeshifter
redeemed enemy exactly what it sounds like, shapeshifter
trickster chaotic, uses wit over strength to make change, shapeshifter, self serving
shadow main opposing force, sometimes believes they were made for more. sometimes mirror the hero
the tyrant shadow that is bully, power hungry, ruthless conqueror
the bastard shadow, dispossessed son or daughter (believes they were owed something) BUT seeks to find their place in society, often orphaned (NOT ransom)
the devil shadow, gives people what they believe they deserve
the traitor shadow, betrays people who trust them the most
the outsider solely seeks belonging? unforgiving to those who do belong.
the terrorist shadow, warped code of honor, self-righteous
loyal retainers demonstrate good qualities of hero, sometimes come from threshold guardians
the platonic ideal female figure. the rest is self explanatory
the earth mother female figure symbolizing fruition, abundance, and fertility
the temptress entices hero sexually
star crossed lovers friggin romeo and juliet, katpiss and peta what did u expect
