Giantism; Acromegaly Causes hyperpituitarism, pituitary oversecretion; usually caused by a benign tumor Patho - excess growth hormone
Addison's Disease Causes adrenal insufficiency, usually caused by auto-immune and idiopathic atrophy of adrenal glands. Needs surgical removal of adrenal glands; use of steroids long term patho - inadequate secretion of adrenal cortex secretions: cortisol and aldosterone
Cushing's Disease Causes excessive adrenocortical activity by adrenals or pituitary. may be excessive administration of corticosteroids or ACTH; pituitary tumor; hyperplasia of adrenal cortex oversecretion of glucocorticoids, adrogens and mineralocorticoids
Hypothyroidism Causes dysfunction of thyroid gland, OR pituitary disorder OR hypothalamus disorder Patho: hyposecretion of the thyroid gland
