sample size the number of observations or individuals included in a study or experiment
mean the "average" number in a data set
median the middle number in a data set
mode the number that apeares the most in a data set
range a sequence, series, or scale between a set of data
interquartile range a measure of statistical dispersion, which is the spread of the data
quartile 1 the 25th percentile, where the lowest 25% data lies below this point
quartile 3 the 75th percentile, where the lowest 75% data lies below this point
mean absolute deviation the average distance between each data value and the mean
outlier the number that Is farthest is value from other numbers in a data set
symmetrical a data set that both halves are symectrical
right-skewed a data set in which the values go down in value (causing the graph to be skewed to the right)
left-skewed a data set in which the values go up in value (causing the graph to be skewed to the left)
bi-modal the numbers on a graph being very scattered in value causing the graph to look like 2 separate symectrical data graphs
uniform numbers being the same or similar in value
probability the likely hood of something happening
impossible not being able/possible to happen
certain 100% chance of happening
equally probable/equally likely 50% chance of happening: equal chance of happening
unlikely between 1/4 and 0 chance of happening
likely between 1/2 and 1 chance of happening
complement the opposite probability of something happening than the desired outcome
