| difference | the answer to a subtraction problem |
| product | the answer to a multiplication problem |
| quotient | the answer to a division problem |
| inequality | two values that are not equal |
| expression | a number sentence that does not have an equal sign |
| equation | a number sentence with an equal sign |
| value | what a number (or digit) is worth |
| comparison | two values being compared with <, > or = |
| trapezoid | a polygon with 4 sides that has at least one pair of parallel sides |
| parallelogram | a polygon with 4 sides that has 2 pairs of parallel sides (Opposite sides are equal and parallel. Opposite angles are equal.) |
| rhombus | a polygon with 4 equal sides and opposite sides are parallel |
| quadrilateral | a polygon with 4 sides |
| rectangle | a polygon with 4 sides and 4 right angles Opposite sides are equal and parallel.) |
| square | a polygon with 4 equal sides and 4 right angles and opposite sides are parallel |
| triangle | a polygon with 3 sides |
| scalene triangle | a triangle with no equal sides |
| isosceles triangle | a triangle with 2 equal sides |
| equilateral triangle | a triangle with 3 equal sides |
| acute angle | an angle that measures between 0° and 90° |
| obtuse angle | an angle that measures between 90° and 180° |
| right angle | an angle that measures exactly 90° |
| congruent shapes | same size and same shape |
| symmetry | A shape or object can be divided into two identical, matching halves that are mirror images of each other. |
| perpendicular lines | lines that touch or cross and make right angles |
| parallel lines | lines that never touch and stay the same distance apart |
| unit fraction | a fraction with a denominator of 1 |
| numerator | the top number in a fraction |
| denominator | the bottom number in a fraction |
| estimate | a number that is "about" or "close to" the actual amount |
