deep vein thrombosis formation of a blood clot in a vein deep in body, most commonly in leg
elliptocyte oval-shaped RBC
embolism blockage in blood vessel caused by an embolus(mass of matter present in blood)
erythrocytosis abnormal increase in number of RBC, can cause blood to become too thick to flow well
hematocrit test that separates blood, used to determine ratio of RBC to total blood volume
hematoma mass of blood within an organ, cavity, or tissue
hematopoiesis formation of blood cells
hemoglobin iron-containing pigment in RBC that carries oxygen to cells
hemolysis breakdown of blood cells
hemolytic anemia anemia caused by destruction of RBC
hemophilia condition in which blood doesn't clot causing excessive bleeding
hemorrhage excessive blood loss
hemostatic drug that stops flow of blood
immunocompromised having an immune system incapable of responding normally/completely to a pathogen or disease
immunodeficiency immune system with decreased/compromised response to disease-causing organisms
immunoglobulin protein that provides protection (immunity) against disease
ischemia blockage of blood flow to an organ
leukemia cancer of blood or bone marrow characterized by abnormal increase in WBC

lymphadenopathy any disease of a lymph gland (node), used to refer to noticeably swollen lymph nodes especially in neck
