Population+Sampling

| Population | All of the members of one species in a particular area |
| Sampling | A smaller part of the population that helps scientists estimate the total number |
| Direct observation | Counting all the members of the population |
| Indirect observation | Estimating the population by looking at the signs of organisms |
| Mark and Recapture | Marking a sample of captured organisms, releasing them and then later capturing another sample of organisms, noting how many are marked and how many are not marked. Using a formula, calculating an estimate of the population |

| Limiting factors | An environmental factor that causes a population to decrease |
| Carrying capacity | The largest population that an area can support |
