The Planets
| Term | Definition |

| Telescope | An instrument that makes distant objects appear closer and larger. |
| Planet | A large object that orbits a star and does not produce it's own light. |
| Moon | A natural object that orbits a planet |
| Satelite | A natural or artifical object in space that circles another object |
| Comet | A mixture of ice, frozen gases, rocks, and dust left over from the formation of the solar system |
| Asteroid | One of many small rocky objects between Mars and Jupiter |
| Meteor | A chunck of rock from space that travels through Earth's atmosphere |
| Star | An objection space that produces it's own energy, including heat and light. |
| Nebula | A huge cloud of gas and dust in space that is the first stage of star formation. |
| White dwarf | A star that can no longer turn helium into carbon; it cools and shrinks, becoming very small and dense. |
| Supernova | A star that a has produced more energy than gravity can hold together and has exploded. |
| Black hole | An object whose gravity is so strong that light can not escape it. |
| Constellation | Any of the patterns that are formed by a group of stars in the night sky. |
| Light-year | The distance light travels in a year. |
| Galaxy | A collection of billions of stars. |
