| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Area | Measures the total 2D space, surface, or "amount of flat space" enclosed within the boundary of a 2D shape |
| Volume | The measure of the 3D space an object occupies. |
| Mixed Number | A numerical value consisting of a whole number combined with a proper fraction representing a total value greater than 1. |
| Fraction | Represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts. |
| Divedend | The total number or quantity to be divided, forming the "whole" that is split into smaller, equal parts. |
| Divisor | The number by which another number (the dividend) is divided. |
| Whole Number | Any complete numbers, including zero, without fractional, decimal, or negative components. |
| Coordinate Point | A set of values, typically an ordered pair, that defines an exact location on a 2D plane |
| Estimate | A reasonable, educated guess or approximation of a value, used when an exact answer is not necessary or practical. |
| Place Value | The value a digit represents based on its position within a number, determined by a base-10 system where each spot is 10 times greater than the spot to its right. |
| Quotient | The answer or result obtained by dividing one number (the dividend) by another (the divisor) |
| Product | The final answer or result obtained by multiplying two or more numbers, expressions, or algebraic terms together. |
| Decimal | A number in the base-10 system that represents a whole number and a fractional part, separated by a decimal point (a dot) |
| Perimeter | The total distance around the outside of a two-dimensional shape, calculated by adding the lengths of all its sides |
