| Base Word | the part of the word that cannot be broken down |
| Bias | cause to feel or show inclination or prejudice for or against someone or something |
| Blending | reading a word systematically from left to right by combining the sounds of each successive letter or combination of letter |
| Cause and effect | noting a relationship between actions or events such that one or more are the result of the other or others |
| Central Idea | the most important or central thoughts unifying elements of a text |
| Character | one of the individuals in a work of fiction |
| Character's perspective | a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something |
| Cite | to speak or write words taken from a particular writer or written work, giving credit to the original source to refer specifically to a source |
| Claim | to say that something is true or is a fact, although you cannot prove it or other people might not believe it a statement that something is true of a fact , although other people might not believe it |
| Clarify | to make or become more easily understood |
| Coherent | logical and well-organized easy to understand able to talk or express yourself in a clear way that can easily be understood |
| Cohesive | naturally or logically connect; holding together |
| Compare and contrast | to note what is similar and different about two or more things |
| Complex | consisting of many different and connected parts |
