air mass/fronts/wind
| Term | Definition |

| air mass | a large body of air that has the same temperature and level of humidity throughout |
| front | a boundary between two different air masses where weather occurs; usually a line of separation between warm and cold air masses |
| cold front | when a warm and cold air mass meet and the cold air replaces the warm, brings “crazy” weather (heavy rains, thunderstorms, sometimes snow) |
| warm front | when a warm and cold air mass meet, and the warm air replaces the cold, brings “wet” weather (rainy and drizzly) followed by warm, clear weather |
| wind | the movement (direction and speed) of air due to differences in air pressure, ex: easterlies and westerlies |
| sea breeze | a day breeze blowing from the ocean as cooler/high-pressure air over the ocean rushes to land to replace warmer/low-pressure air that is rising |
| land breeze | a night breeze blowing from the land as cooler/high-pressure air over land rushes to the ocean to replace warmer/low-pressure air that is rising |
| Gulf Stream | a warm ocean current flowing N from the Gulf of Mexico, along the E coast of the U.S it warms the air and land along the eastern coast of the US and brings warmer temperatures during cooler months. |
