| Term | Definition |

| median | the middle data value |
| mode | it is the value that occurs the most often |
| range | describes how the set values vary in a data set with a single number |
| inner quartile range | the difference between the first and third quartile. |
| outlier | a data point that varies significantly for the rest of the data. |
| skewed-left | has a long tail extending to the left |
| skewed-right | has a long tail extending to the right |
| symetrical | can be perfectly divided into 2 halves |
| bi-modal | has 2 modes |
| uniform | all the same data |
| mean | the average of the data |
| mean absolute deviation | the average distance that the data vary from the average |
| sample size | the amount of data points |
| quartile 1 | median of first half |
| quartile 3 | median of second half |
| probability | the likelihood than an event will happen |
| impossible | an event that will never happen |
| certain | an event that will happen |
| equally probable | an event that has a 50% chance of happening |
| unlikely | an event that will probably not happen |
| likely | an event that will probably happen |
| complement | the opposite of an event. |
