mean the sum of all the data points divided by the number of data points
median the value separating the higher half from the lower half of a data sample, a population, or a probability distribution
mode its the value that occurs most often
range the difference of the greatest value and the least value
IQR represents the difference between the third quartile and the first quartile
outlier a data points that varies significantly from the rest of the data
skewed left a long tail skewed to the left
skewed right a long tail skewed to the right
symmetrical a shape perfectly symmetric because it can be divided into halves
bi-modal when it has two modes
uniform data is all the same and is also considered symmetrical
MAD the average distance that the data points in a set are from the mean
sample size the number of participants or observations included in a study
quartile 1 the 25th percentile
quartile 3 75% of the data
probability how likely something is to happen
impossible not able to occur, exist, or be done
certain known for sure
equally probable/ equally likely 1/2 will probably happen
unlikely between 0 and 1/2
likely between 1/2 and 1
complement includes all of the outcomes that are not a part of the original event
