Deciphering Code

TermDefinition
ASD Autism spectrum disorder. A spectrum disorder that effect an individual behavior and social awareness.
F/U Follow up, this would be put onto someone chart if needed to be seen once again.
GYN Gynecologist, a doctor that focuses on the female body.
HEENT Head, ears, eyes, nose, throat. This would be used once asking a patient symptoms. If they have a virus; multiple parts of the HEENT acronym would be effected.
NICU Neonatal intensive care unit. This is a care unit strictly for newborns that need to be evaluated right after being born.
CCU Coronary Care Unit. This unit focuses on an individual with serious issues like heart attacks, and any other borderline serious heart condition.
SICU Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The SICU unit focuses on recovering patient from surgery.
Tx Tx is defined as treatment for the patient.
HPI HPI stands for history of present illness.
BP BP is defined as Blood pressure.
BMI BMI is defined as 'body mass index'. This can be seen as a screening tool to help measure out a patient height and weight.
Epiphysis The end of the bone, this connects to the metaphysis and follow down to the diaphysis.
Myocardium The myocardium is the main muscle of the heart.
Aorta The part of the heart that carries over oxygen throughout the heart, spreading through the body.
Antigen An antigen is a substance that drawn upon the immune system response.
Antibodies An antibody is blood protein that produce a response to counteract a certain type of antigen to the immune system.
