statistics

QuestionAnswer
median a measure of center; add all of the data points and divide by the number of data points.
mode the value that occurs most often.
range describes how the values in a data set vary with a single number.
inner quartile range median of first half of box plot.
outlier a data point that varies significantly from the rest of the data.
skewed left long tail extending to the left.
skewed right long tail extending to the right.
symmetrical can be divided into two halfs.
bi-modal data point that varies significantly from the rest
uniform all data is thee same
mean add all data points and divide
mean absolute diviation one way to describe variability
quartile 1 median of first half
quartile 3 median of second half
probabilty the likelyhood that an event will happen
impossible has a likelyhood of 0
certain has a probablity of 1
equally probable\equally likely had a probablity of 1/2
unlikely probablity greater than 0 but less than 1/2
likely probabilty greater than 1/2 but less than 1
