| Term | Definition |

| Mean | the average of the data |
| Median | the middle data value |
| Mode | the value that occurs the most |
| Range | the difference of the greatest value and the least value |
| Inner Quartile Range | the difference between the third quartile and the first quartile |
| Outlier | a data point that varies significantly from the rest of the data |
| Skewed-left | if the distribution has a long tail extending to the left |
| Skewed-right | if the distribution has a long tail extending to the right |
| Symmetrical | the shape is perfectly symmetric, it can be divided into two halves that are mirror images of each other |
| Bi-model | if the distribution has two modes/humps |
| Uniform | if the distribution of all of the data is the same |
| Mean Absolute Deviation | the average distances that the data points in a set of data are from the mean |
| Sample Size | the sample size describes the number of data points collected in the sample |
| Probability | the likelyhood that an event will happen |
| Impossible | an event that has a probability of 0 |
| Certain | an event that has a probability of 1 |
| Equally probable | an event that has a probability exactly between 0 and 1 |
| Unlikely | an event that has a probability between 0 and 1/2 |
| Likely | an event that has a probability between 1/2 and 1 |
| Compliment | the opposite of an event |
| Quartile 1 | median of first half |
| Quartile 3 | median of second half |
