WWII Aftermath Vocab

QuestionAnswer
Genocide the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation.
Geneva Convention A set of international standards of conduct for treating prisoners of war. First established in 1929, it was updated in 1949.
United Nations An international organization formed after WWII to promote international peace, security, and cooperation.
Charter A legal document giving certain rights to a person or company
Holocaust A methodical plan orchestrated by Hitler to ensure German supremacy. It called for the industrial scale elimination of Jews, non-conformists, homosexuals, non-Aryans, and mentally and physically disabled.
Preamble (n.) an introduction to a speech or piece of writing
Human Rights the basic rights to which all people are entitled as human beings
