Gas Laws
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Gas | A state of matter in which volume AND shape will change depending on the container. |
| Volume | The measure of space that matter takes up. |
| Pressure | The force applied to the surface of an object per unit area over which that force is distributed measured in: kPa, atm, torr, mmHg |
| Temperature | The measure of average kinetic energy of particles in matter. |
| Boyles Law | The Volume - Pressure relationship as pressure increases, volume decreases. |
| Charles Law | The temperature - Volume relationship as Temperature decreases, volume decreases. |
| Gay-Lussac's Law | The temperature - Pressure relationship as Temperature increases, Pressure increases. |
| Compressibility | A measure of how much volume of matter decreases under pressure. |
