| Term | Definition |

| sample size | Describes the number of data points collected in the sample. |
| median | It is the measure if center. It is the middle data value. |
| mode | It is the value that occurs most often. |
| range | It is the difference of the greatest value and the least value. |
| interquartile range | It represents the difference between the third quartile and the first quartile. |
| quartile 1 | The median of the 1st half. |
| quartile 3 | The median of the 2nd half. |
| symmetrical | The shape perfectly symmetric, because it can be divided into two halves that are mirror images of each other. They do not have to have perfect symmetry. |
| right-skewed | If the distribution has a long tail extending to the right, it is skewed to the right. |
| left-skewed | If the distribution has a long tail extending to the left, it is skewed to the left. |
