| Longitudnal Wave | A wave that moves parellel to the direction of the energy |
| Crest | The highest point in a transverse wave |
| Trough | The lowest point in a transverse wave |
| Compression | Where the particles are closest together in a longitudnal wave |
| Rarefaction | Where the particles are farthest apart in a longitudnal wave |
| Wavelength | The distance between two corresponding parts of a wave |
| Amplitude | The maximum distance a wave moves away from the rest position |
