Beginning of human life (Mechanism of Reproduction) starts with the union of two cells inside a woman's body
Male's reproductive system produces what? (Mechanism of Reproduction) sperm cells during an intercourse
Female reproductive system produces what? (Mechanism of Reproduction) an egg cell every month
Process 1 During an intercourse, a man ejaculates and releases semen to a woman's vagina.
Process 2 Around 150 million sperm cells are released.
Process 3 Around 85% are not strong enough, leaving 15% to reach the fallopian tube.
Process 4 They have 12–48 hours to reach the egg cell.
Zygote (Fertilization) Fertilized egg
How many chromosomes if fertilization happens? Has 46 chromosomes (23 from mother, 23 from father)
Morula (Development stages 1) compact solid mass
Blastocyst (Development stages 2) has inner cell mass (embryo) and trophoblasts
Trophoblasts (Development stages 3) amniotic sac and placenta
Mitosis (Cell Division) 1 Cell divides by duplicating DNA
What does mitosis produce? 23 pairs of chromosomes
Mitosis (Cell Division) responsibility Responsible for growth and repair
What does Meiosis produce? Produces gametes (egg and sperm cells)
Meiosis features Cells are distinct from one another
Meiosis keyword sexual reproduction
Mitosis keyword growth and maintenance
First Month 1 Fertilized egg divides into cells
First Month 2 Implantation in uterus completes conception
What happens in in the first month of pregnancy? Fertilized egg divides into cells as it go from fallopian tube to uterus. The cluster cells that floats at the uterus cavity embeds in the wall of uterus.
Second Month 1 Embryo size: grain of rice
What happens in in the first month of pregnancy? Month
Second Month 2 Brain and spinal cord begin
Second Month 5th Grain of rice sized embryo (has beginning of 2 brain lobes & spinal cord)
Second Month 8th Eyes and ears are growing, and baby is about 2 cm long from crown to rump.
Second Month 7th Limb buds grown into arms & legs. Nostrils can be seen & do have 4 chamber on heart.
Second Month 6th: Has a head & simple ears. Has 2 chambers of heart and beating.
Third Month 1 Embryonic period ends
Third Month 2 Fetal period begins
Third Month 3 Organs and tissues develop
Third Month Week 8 Embryonic Period finishes and Fetal Period begins.
Third Month Week 9 Head is almost half of crown & body grows in length until Week 12 as the head is more proportion.
Third Month Week 9.3 External genitals appeared
Third Month Week 9.2 Full body is already formed (includes ears, toes, fingers).
Third Month Week 12 you can differentiate if it's a girl or boy
Fourth Month 1 Baby can suck thumb
Fourth Month 2 Body covered with lanugo (layer of fine hair).
Fourth Month Week 16 its face is becoming more human.
Fourth Month Week 14 Body is already 9-10 cm
Fourth Month Week 16-24 you should feel your baby moving.
Growth slows
Baby moves a lot
