Work and energy flashcards
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is the equation for work done? | force x distance moved |
| If a book is pushed 2m across the floor, at a force of 100N, how much work is done | 200J |
| What must there be in order for work top be done? | A force and a movement |
| What is Hooke's law? | The length of a spring stretched is directly proportional to an amount of force applied to it. |
| What does elastic mean? | can be stretched and returned to it's original shape |
| What is the law of the conservation of energy? | Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed from one form to another. The total energy at the start must equal the total energy at the end. |
| What are some safety features in a car? | seatbelts, airbags, laminated glass, lane assist, ABS brakes, front and rear bumpers, crumple zones, collapsible steering column, side impact bars |
| What is force directly proportional to in Hooke's law? | The extension |
| What are crumple zones? | zones on a car that are made from collapsible material that helps to soften the blow from a crash, decreasing the force onto the passengers |
| What is the equation for kinetic energy? | mass x velocity |
