aesthetic (n/adj) characterized by an appreciation of beauty or good taste; the philosophical theory or set of principles governing the idea of beauty at a given time and place
anesthetize (v) administer a numbing or sleep-inducing drug to someone; to render physically insensible, as by an anesthetic
cacophony (n) loud confusing disagreeable sounds; a discordant and meaningless mixture of sounds
desolation (n) a bleak atmosphere, dreariness; barrenness;
heresy (n) a belief that rejects the orthodox tenets of a religion;
hone (v) refine or make more perfect or effective; to sharpen on a whetstone with a fine, compact texture
filigree (n) delicate ornamental work of fine silver, gold, or other metal wires, especially lacy jewelers' work of scrolls and arabesques
imperceptibly (adv) barely moving; barely detectable, in a manner that is difficult to discern
juggernaut (n) a massive inexorable force; anything requiring blind devotion or cruel sacrifice
