Ecosystem all the living and nonliving things that interact in one place
Estuary a place where freshwater from rivers meets saltwater from the ocean
Salt marsh a coastal wetland filled with grasses that grows in salty water
Ocean a very large body of saltwater that covers most of Earth
Lakes large bodies of freshwater surrounded by land
Ponds small bodies of still freshwater
Rivers large flowing bodies of freshwater that move toward oceans or lakes
Streams small flowing bodies of freshwater
Forests areas with many trees and other plants
Grassland large open areas covered mostly with grasses
Population a group of the same kind of organisms living in one area
Community all the different populations living together in one area
Terrestrial living or growing on land
Aquatic living or growing in water
Biotic living parts of an ecosystem
Abiotic nonliving parts of an ecosystem
Habitat the place where an organism lives
Tundra a cold, treeless biome with frozen ground
Producer an organism that makes its own food (like plants)
Consumer an organism that eats other organisms
Decomposer an organism that breaks down dead plants and animals
Food chain a simple path showing how energy moves from one organism to another
Food web a network of many connected food chains
Model a representation used to explain or show something
Classify to group things based on their similarities
Relationship how things or organisms are connected or interact

Energy transfer the movement of energy from one organism to another
