Anxiety

TermDefinition
Seperation Anxiety Disorder Excessive fear of being apart from significant individuals, more common in children but can affect adults
Selective Mutism Inability to speak in social settings despite normal speech in other situations
Phobias Intense fear of specific objects or situations
Social Anxiety Disorder Fear of embarrassment, humiliation, or rejection in social interactions
Panic Disorder Recurrent panic attacks causing severe physical symptoms, often mistaken for heart attacks
Agoraphobia Fear of situations where escape may be difficult, leading to avoidance of open or enclosed spaces
Substance-Induced Anxiety Disorder Occurs when a person experiences intense anxiety or panic attacks due to th effects of a substance, such as drugs, alcohol, or medication
Anxiety Due to a Medical Condition In these cases, the anxiety symptoms are directly linked to the physiological effects of a medical disorder rather than being a primary anxiety disorder
Dysmorphic Disorder Persistent preoccupation with perceived defects or flaws in one's appearance (mirror checking, excessive grooming, seeking reassurance about looks, perfectionism)
Hoarding Disorder Demonstrating a persistent difficutly or inability to discard or part with possessions (obsessive accumulation of objects, letting go of any item is painful, collecting has consumed life, individual is alienated)
Tricotillomania Characterized by a repetitive pattern of intentionally pulling out one's hair triggered by boredom and/or anxiety resulting in reduced tenion leading to a form of gratification and pleasure or a sense of relief
Excoriation Disorder Pattern of behavior defined by the recurrent picking at one's skin, resulting in lesions (commonly found on hands, face, arms, or multiple body sites, excessive time daily is spent picking)
