anarchy Lawlessness; disorder caused by lack of rules.
Anti-Federalist A person who supported the Articles of Confederation.
Bill of Rights The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees basic rights of all citizens.
Constitutional Republic A government in which officials are elected to represent the people, and then govern according to a constitution.
Domestic Tranquility Peace within a nation.
Federalist A person who supported the new U.S. Constitution.
Popular Sovereignty The idea that the government gets its power form the people and needs their consent to make laws.
Proposal A plan or suggestion laid out for others to consider.
Rule of Law The idea that all citizens must follow the laws and that they will be protected from government abuse of power.
Suffrage The right to vote.
