| Anti-Federalist | A person who supported the Articles of Confederation. |
| Bill of Rights | The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees basic rights of all citizens. |
| Constitutional Republic | A government in which officials are elected to represent the people, and then govern according to a constitution. |
| Domestic Tranquility | Peace within a nation. |
| Federalist | A person who supported the new U.S. Constitution. |
| Popular Sovereignty | The idea that the government gets its power form the people and needs their consent to make laws. |
| Proposal | A plan or suggestion laid out for others to consider. |
| Rule of Law | The idea that all citizens must follow the laws and that they will be protected from government abuse of power. |
| Suffrage | The right to vote. |
